وهو الأمر الذي جعله يحتل المركز ال12 بالدوري وذلك برصيد 19 نقطة فقط، ونتيجة لهذه النتائج قرر النادي التخلي عن المدرب الحالي وتعيين المدير الفني بيتر هامبرج.

قرر نادي الاتحاد السعودي نتيجة للنتائج السلبية والأداء المتراجع للفريق في الفترة الأخيرة إلغاء عقد مدربه الهولندي تين كات،
على أن يتولى تدريب الفريق في الوقت الراهن مساعده الهولندي بيتر هامبرج وقد تم الإعلان عن ذلك عبر الحساب الخاص للنادي السعودي على موقع تويتر.
ذلك وكان المدير الفني الهولندي تين كات قد تولى قيادة الفريق في 11 لقاء في جميع المسابقات حتى الآن،
لم يستطع تحقيق الفوز إلا في لقاءين فقط منهم، في حين تعرض للخسارة في أربع مواجهات وتعادل في خمس مباريات.
